What is a smart lock?
A smart lock is an electronic lock that works without physical keys; instead, it can grant access to and lock your property through alternative methods such as a smartphone app, a voice command or a code.

They are great for rental properties, Airbnbs, or homes with multiple occupants as they allow you to change the access combination, or to add and remove guests regularly without having to change the whole lock.
Depending on the model you choose, a smart lock can replace your whole lock, including the latch and handle, or replace the deadbolt only. The Verisure Lockguard Smart Lock is compatible with Euro Cylinder locks, and a professional installer will remove the old cylinder, install mounting plates and spacers, and replace it with LockGuard.
These smart devices work by connecting wirelessly to your smartphone or other smart devices via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, allowing you to lock and unlock it remotely through a smartphone app.
Some smart lock models allow unlocking via a keypad, a key fob, or biometric access such as fingerprints, palm, face or voice recognition. LockGuard can be unlocked using a security code, a fob, or the Verisure smartphone app.

While you can get a hardwired lock, most smart locks are battery-powered, meaning they work even during a power outage. The batteries need to be changed or recharged every few months, and many models include manual backups to avoid being locked out.
Aside from keyless entry, some smart locks include advanced security features for added peace of mind. Verisure’s LockGuard has an anti-picking cylinder and an auto-locking feature for enhanced protection. When installed as part of the Verisure Alarm System, LockGuard can detect tampering attempts and send intrusion details to the Verisure Alarm Receiving Centre.
