Where to install burglar alarms?
Burglar alarms work best when all their components are installed optimally inside and outside your home. At Verisure, we offer professional installation as standard, so our experts will provide their advice about which devices to opt for and where to place them during your initial consultation.
Firstly, Verisure burglar alarm systems come with alarm deterrent signs to be placed on the front of your property, warning potential intruders it is secured.
We'd also advise placing any outdoor cameras on the front of your property as further dissuasion.
As a rule of thumb, we recommend installing the Verisure Siren, Voice, Keypad (SVK) unit included in your system on a wall in the entrance area of your property, where it will work as an interface for you to arm and disarm the alarm system when you leave or return home. The SVK unit also acts as a siren in case of an intrusion, and it can be used to communicate with the Verisure Alarm Receiving Centre.
The central unit is essentially the router that powers your entire system. You'll have to position it near a plug socket as it is mains-powered, and we recommend placing it in a central location in your home so it can wirelessly send and receive information from all your other sensors and devices.
Door and window sensors, as their name indicates, should be installed on or near your home's entry points to detect any unwanted intrusions.
Motion sensors could be placed near windows or doors or in high-traffic areas inside your home, covering as much surface area as possible, clear of any obstructing objects such as furniture or walls.
