What does a panic button do?

A panic button is a device that can be pressed in the event of an emergency to send a distress signal to a security team, emergency services, or law enforcement.

It is generally designed to be discrete, a small standalone button you can place somewhere in your home without attracting too much attention.

Verisure home alarm systems also feature an SOS panic button on a portable smart remote, which you can press when you need assistance.

Who is notified of the distress signal depends on which type of panic button you have; some elderly people have medical emergency buttons which send a signal straight to ambulance services, for example.

The Verisure Alarm Panic Button is linked to a 24/7 Alarm Receiving Centre, where security professionals activate a “silent listening mode” at your property when you press the button. They will use your Verisure devices to record what’s happening and receive images from your security cameras to assess the situation, and, where appropriate, call emergency services or law enforcement.
