What sensor protects doors and windows?
Verisure uses Shock Sensor Detectors, installed on the frame and sash of each door or window. A magnetic field links the two parts. If the glass or frame is shaken, opened, or vibrated, the sensor is triggered.
How does the shock sensor detect intrusion?
The system detects:
- Forced opening or movement
- Vibrations or shocks, like someone hitting or tampering with the window or frame Sensors filter out environmental triggers (e.g. wind or passing vehicles) from actual intrusion attempts.
What happens when a sensor is triggered?
- The sensor sends an alert to the Verisure central control unit.
- The system signals the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) immediately.
- ARC personnel assess the alert and contact you. If needed, they escalate to emergency contacts or the police on your behalf.
Are windows monitored 24/7?
Yes. Your system is wireless, connecting via broadband or mobile (GSM/4G), ensuring uninterrupted monitoring—even if your internet fails.
How reliable are these sensors?
Sensors incorporate advanced filtering algorithms to differentiate intrusions from false positives caused by weather or external sounds. Verisure claims reliable detection while minimising false alarms.
What if the alarm triggers—what’s next?
- ARC contacts you to confirm if it's a real incident.
- If you're unreachable, they contact your emergency contacts.
- If no one responds, they dispatch the police or a private security guard (if subscribed to guard response service).
What about tampering or sensor removal?
Tampering (e.g. opening the sensor casing) is treated as a serious alert. It will either prevent the system from being rearmed or activate an immediate alarm, based on installation and settings.
Can environmental factors trigger alarms?
Not easily. Sensors use advanced filters to ignore vibrations from wind, rain, or passing traffic. Only deliberate shocks or disturbances trigger alerts.
